Privacy policy
Last updated October 17, 2026
Hecataeus is a pre-launch project operated by an individual in Pennsylvania, United States. No separate Hecataeus legal business entity has been formed. This page explains what we collect when you visit hecataeus.com or join our early-access list, why we collect it, who helps us handle it, and how to reach us.
The short version
We collect your email address, plus any optional answers you choose to give, so we can tell you about Hecataeus and invite you to early access. Brevo stores the list and sends our emails. We don’t sell your information, and you can unsubscribe or ask us to delete it at any time at [email protected].
What we collect
- Your email address, when you join the early-access list.
- Optional answers, if you give them: your role, the kinds of contracts you deal with, and roughly how many you review each year.
- Sign-up records, such as when you joined and how you found the website (for example, a campaign or referral link). Email-address confirmation is not part of the current signup process.
- Messages you send us, including your email address and what you write.
- Basic technical data when you visit the site, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request. Our hosting provider processes this information to deliver and protect the site. We may enable aggregate, privacy-focused website analytics to understand visits.
This website does not collect contracts or other documents, and there is no upload feature. If you later take part in a pilot and share a contract with us, we’ll give you separate information on how it’s handled before you do.
Why we collect it
- To send you updates about Hecataeus, including early-access and pilot invitations. We do this with your consent, and you can withdraw it whenever you like.
- To understand who is interested in Hecataeus and what they need. We look at optional answers in aggregate.
- To reply when you write to us.
- To keep the site working and secure.
Our marketing emails concern Hecataeus and include an unsubscribe link.
Who handles your information
Brevo is the email platform we use. It stores the sign-up list and sends our emails on our behalf. Brevo’s servers may be located outside the United States, including in the European Union. Brevo may also handle limited data for its own purposes, as described in the Brevo privacy policy.
Cloudflare hosts this website, protects it from abuse and provides visit counts. Your sign-up passes through Cloudflare’s network on its way to Brevo.
Our email provider handles the messages you send us.
We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t share it for advertising. We may disclose information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your sign-up information until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. After you unsubscribe, Brevo may retain a limited suppression record so you are not added back to marketing emails without a new request. We keep messages you send us for as long as we need them to respond and keep reasonable records, and then delete them.
Your choices and rights
- Use the unsubscribe link in any email, or write to us, to stop hearing from us.
- Ask us to show you, correct or delete the information we hold about you.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law, such as withdrawing consent, objecting to certain uses, or complaining to a data protection authority.
Email us at [email protected] and we aim to respond within 30 days. We may need to confirm it’s really you before we act on a request.
Cookies
We don’t intentionally set advertising cookies, and the sign-up form itself doesn’t set cookies. Cloudflare may use strictly necessary cookies for security and performance. If Cloudflare Web Analytics is enabled, we use its aggregated statistics to understand visits; it does not use cookies to follow visitors across other sites.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect sign-up information. Access is limited, and the connection from this site to Brevo is encrypted. No online service is perfectly secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.
Children
Hecataeus is for business use and isn’t aimed at anyone under 18. We don’t knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll also email people on the list.
